此外研究人員還發現,對那些“真球迷”而言,鏡像神經元還有助于他們更好地“讀懂”球賽。對比實驗顯示,在觀賽的時候,那些“真球迷”能夠更好地預測球路走向,此時,他們的鏡像神經元比那些“偽球迷”更活躍。
維也納醫科大學腦研究中心的奧梅拉·瓦倫蒂說:“鏡像神經元能使我們憑直覺捕捉到其他人的意圖,而且我們可以根據過往的經驗更好地理解這些意圖或行為。”
研究人員說,對鏡像神經元的研究開始于30年前,如今還處于初步階段。深入研究鏡像神經元可以揭示人類社交互動和模仿學習的奧秘,比如,嬰兒學習成人的表情就是因為有鏡像神經元,而幼兒自閉癥可能與鏡像神經元功能失調有關,刺激鏡像神經元功能還將有助于中風偏癱病人恢復行動能力。
人類有許多慢性病,像多發性硬化癥、I型糖尿病和類風濕性關節炎,是由免疫系統以某種方式“濫殺無辜”引起的,這種免疫系統傷害自身組織和器官的疾病被稱為自體免疫疾病。目前,自體免疫疾病尚無法治愈,而現有的多數藥物則無法區分正常免疫細胞和會發動自體攻擊的免疫細胞,所以它們雖然可暫時緩解癥狀,但也消滅了抑制有害細菌和病毒所必需的正常免疫細胞,從長期看會讓病人更脆弱。
研究負責人、美國國家衛生研究院黏膜免疫研究室主任陳萬軍對新華社記者說,自體免疫疾病的一個共同的重要發病機理是,患者免疫系統的正常平衡被破壞,導致患者體內充斥著大量炎癥細胞和因子。所以理論上zui有效的治療方法應該是,首先把這個已失去平衡、免疫反應過強的狀態打破,然后再重新誘導免疫系統建立一個新的秩序,即恢復正常的平衡狀態,讓免疫細胞對自己的組織和器官耐受而不是破壞。“簡單地說,基本原理就是‘打破一個舊世界,建立一個新世界’”。
陳萬軍等人采取的新方案是,首先誘導實驗鼠的自身免疫細胞凋亡,讓這些細胞被體內一種叫做巨噬細胞的吞噬細胞“吃掉”,之后巨噬細胞會產生一種重要的免疫調控抑制因子TGFβ。TGFβ在體內會形成一個免疫調控的微環境,在這種微環境下再注射一種蛋白多肽,去刺激新的未分化的“原始”或“處女”T細胞,這些T細胞在TGFβ占優勢的微環境中,會分化成免疫調節T細胞,而不是破壞自身組織和器官的炎癥細胞。
